Mark Foley, RCC, (He/Him)

Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)

You might be considering therapy because you feel stuck; perhaps something is hard, painful, or confusing, and trying to figure it out on your own isn’t working anymore. You might feel caught in the same patterns, overwhelmed by emotions, or worn down by the frustration or hopelessness that comes from feeling like nothing is changing.

My role as a therapist is to help create the conditions for things to start moving. I offer an empathetic and accepting space, where you don’t have to have things figured out, and where it’s okay to say things you’ve thought but haven’t felt able to say out loud. While my work is primarily person-centered, I integrate different approaches depending on what each client needs, such as DBT-informed skills for emotional dysregulation or EMDR for processing trauma.

A big part of therapy, for me, is helping clients experience movement, whether that shows up as changes in their lives, shifts in how they feel about themselves, or changes in how they relate to whatever brought them to therapy. Over time, this work can increase resilience and help support a kinder, more accepting relationship with yourself. I love witnessing my clients feel less stuck and more curious, signs that meaningful change is happening.

Experience & Training:

I’m a BCACC Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters of Counselling Psychology degree from Adler University, where I completed my practicum at a community addiction site. I have additional training in CBT, DBT and EMDR. My background as well includes experience in eating disorder recovery support. My work is informed by my lived experience as a gay, sober man who has improved his own life significantly through counselling.

More Than Just My Work

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, my partner, and our two cats (Hugo and Patch). I spend my free time curling, listening to podcasts, and travelling.
