Atrena Azordegan, RCC, (She/Her)

Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)

When you’ve experienced trauma, it doesn’t always feel like something that happened in the past. It can show up as anxiety, shame, emotional reactivity, relationship struggles, or a constant sense of being on edge. You may understand logically that you’re safe now, yet your body responds as if the danger is still present. Trauma can shape core beliefs about who you are, leaving you feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.

I specialize in EMDR Therapy to help the nervous system fully process traumatic memories so they no longer feel like they are happening in the present. When trauma remains unprocessed, it lives in the body and continues to influence thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. EMDR allows us to resolve trauma at its roots, not just manage symptoms.

My approach is integrative and trauma-focused, incorporating parts work (IFS Therapy), somatic interventions, and attachment-informed care. I am trained in EMDR, including EMDR for complex trauma. I work from the understanding that trauma responses are intelligent survival adaptations, not personal flaws. Our work together is collaborative, paced, and grounded in safety.

Through therapy, you can experience relief from trauma symptoms, develop nervous system regulation, and shift deeply held beliefs shaped by past experiences. My goal is to help you move from surviving to living with greater stability, self-trust, and empowerment. I am looking forward to connecting with you.

About My Approach

I practice from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens. Rather than asking “What is wrong with you?”, I ask, “What happened to you?” I understand trauma symptoms as survival responses developed in the face of overwhelming experiences. Together, we gently explore how the past may still be shaping the present, and work toward resolving those patterns at their roots.

As an Iranian-Canadian, bisexual, neurodivergent clinician, my lived experience informs my work. I am especially committed to supporting individuals from immigrant, marginalized, and LGBTQ+ communities who may feel hesitant about seeking therapy. I strive to create a space that is culturally responsive, queer-affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, kink-affirming, and sex-positive.

I offer sessions primarily in English and can incorporate Farsi when helpful. I value how language shapes identity and meaning, and I honour the ways you express yourself.

I believe that just by virtue of being human, you are worthy of healing. It is an honour to walk alongside you as you process trauma, reclaim your agency, and reconnect with your authentic self.
