April Byers, RP (She/Her/Hers)

Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)

April Byers is a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults through comprehensive psychological assessment. She specializes in the evaluation of ADHD, learning disabilities, social-emotional and mental health concerns. She is known for her thorough, evidence-based assessments that integrate cognitive, academic, behavioral, and emotional data to create a clear and nuanced understanding of each person’s unique strengths and challenges. April has extensive experience working across school, clinical, and private practice settings, and collaborates closely with families, educators, and other professionals.

April is passionate about helping people better understand how their minds work. She understands that individuals may come to an assessment feeling confused, overwhelmed, or frustrated due to challenges with attention, learning, emotions, or day-to-day functioning. As a result, she is particularly committed to helping individuals make sense of their experiences in a way that is respectful, collaborative, and empowering. She recognizes that some individuals seek assessment after years of unanswered questions, and she strives to provide not only diagnostic clarity but also a roadmap for growth, resilience, and improved quality of life.

April’s approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in respect, creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and at ease. By looking carefully at each person’s unique profile of strengths and challenges, April provides clear, practical

recommendations that can make a meaningful difference. For children and teens, this might include identifying learning styles, guiding school supports and accommodations, and helping families better understand how to support their child at home and in the classroom. For adults, assessments can offer long-awaited clarity around attention, organization, learning, or emotional difficulties, often bringing a sense of validation, direction, renewed confidence as well as recommendations that outline the unique strategies and supports most suited to the individual. April believes that a well-done assessment can be a turning point. Whether the goal is academic support, workplace

accommodations, or personal insight, she works with each individual to ensure the process leads to greater self-understanding, effective strategies, and a clearer path forward.
