Anna Nelson, MA, RCC (She/Her/Hers)

Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck or overwhelmed, unsure of how to move forward. Past trauma, societal pressures, and systemic imbalances can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and trapped in unhelpful patterns. The trauma we carry is not just personal, but a product of the systems we live in. As a result, it can be hard to see beyond the distress, or even know where to begin to heal.

I offer a trauma-informed, client-centered approach that integrates feminist theory, IFS Therapy, EMDR, attachment theory and mindfulness. By exploring how trauma and systems shape your life, we’ll work together to address both the emotional and systemic roots of your distress. This holistic approach helps bring clarity, insight, and healing on multiple levels.

In our work together, you can expect to find not only relief but empowerment. By building a strong, trusting relationship where you feel safe and understood, we’ll create a foundation for lasting change. Through therapy, you’ll reconnect with your authentic self, heal trauma at its roots, and start to reclaim your power in ways that feel aligned with your values. The change you’re seeking is within reach, and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Experience & Training

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Since graduating, I have focused my practice on helping clients through traumas with the use of evidence-based practices such as IFS, EMDR and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy. I approach my work from a feminist lens, recognizing how systemic forces and gendered experiences shape our lives.

My previous work with survivors of sexual assault and in the addictions field have given me the hands-on experience needed to effectively support those facing both trauma and addiction. I’ve guided clients through the medical and criminal justice systems, attending police statements and trials to provide both emotional and practical support. These roles have deepened my passion for working with survivors of gender-based violence and reinforced my commitment to harm reduction. My experience has shaped my approach, allowing me to offer trauma-informed, empathetic care grounded in both personal experience and social justice principles.

More Than Just My Work

I currently live on the North Shore and I really enjoy spending time in nature: hiking, skiing, and camping. When I’m not outside I love to cozy up inside with a good book, puzzle, craft, or whatever video game I am currently playing. I see healing as a lifelong journey and intentional self-care has been essential to my well-being.
